After waking up from a nightmare, Gil learns to control his dreams with the help of his boyfriend.
Together they journey through strange dreamscapes and discover that the worst dreams are the ones they don’t want to wake up from.
Creating worlds that challenge visual perception
The spaces of Lúcido originated from an attempt to translate my visual practice into virtual reality. Double images mark moments of transition between ordinary dreams and lucid dreams. In a static double image, two realities coexist simultaneously. In Lúcido, these images acquire movement and three-dimensionality.
The double image becomes a liminal threshold - a transient point of passage.
Embodiment as lucidity
Interaction does not function as a decorative feature but as a narrative instrument. The degree of agency in Lúcido mirrors the protagonist’s level of lucidity. As lucidity increases, participants progressively gain influence over the dreamscape; learning to fly and to draw vast, impossible structures across the sky.
Spaces of queer freedom
The creation of safe spaces for queer expression within chosen families finds a parallel in the conscious construction of worlds during lucid dreams.
Lúcido alternates between moments of dream exploration and fragments of everyday life within a queer family.
